DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL CRICKET IN BARCELONA

The Montjuic baseball stadium will once again be an hive of cricket activity for the next month with the latest ECS series starting today. Ten teams will vie to become the T10 champions for the ECS Barcelona tournament of 2024..

In December Cataluyna Jaguars won the sister competition and will be hoping to repeat this feat. The ten teams start their campaign on January 29th and two North East league clubs, Barcelona International and Pak-I-Care open proceedings.. Magic Badalona, and Red Cataluyna are the two other teams that play on day one.

Joining the event later this week will be the Jaguars, Men in Blue, Pak Barcelona, Sohail Hospitalet, Cataluyna Dragons and Barcelona Royal. Finals day will take place on the 24th of February.

Sandwiched in between the Domestic event the Spanish Men and Women's team will play T10 Internationals against the Czech Republic. The mens squad will have two new debutants in their team, Dani Long-Martinez and Alec Davidson-Soler.

On confirmation of the squad the Cricket Espana National coach Corey Rutgers said, " Looking forward to kick starting a busy 2024 schedule vs Czechia this February, it's a good opportunity to get the team together before our T20 Internationals begin in a few months. Also very helpful for the squad to find some touch after the winter break.

Happy to welcome Chris Munoz-Mills into the squad after a long term ACL injury, it is great to have his leadership qualities available again and for him to slowly work his way back into the cricket season, and also a welcome return to Thomas Vine who will add some variety to the attack.

Also very happy to welcome two more Debutants to our national program, Dani Long - Martinez and Alec Davidson - Solar. Both players we've been in touch with for more than six months and I feel this tournament is a great opportunity to bring them over, showcase their skills and join the growing Espana familia".

The Women's team is unchanged from the squad that played in the ECCW competition in Cartama last year. With Andrea Davidson Soler named in the team for the ladies it will see the first time that a brother and sister have played international cricket for Spain.

Neil Brook will coach the team and his support staff will include two assistant coaches Shahbaz Shaukat and Catherine Morretti. Marisol Brown Carrera completes the entourage as the team manager.

All matches, domestic and international will be livestreamed on the European Cricket Network.
