Cricket Espana attend the NABS conference

March 10, 2024

From Vigo to Xerez, around sixty schools signed an expression of interest to become part of the Cricket España school programme that is being launched this season.

Incorporating the principles of Criiio, the plan was offered to over sixty educational facilities at the National Association of British schools AGM in Valencia. It was the first time a sport had attended the conference and had an exhibition stand on site. The Spanish National women team coach Neil Brook, Jaime Gonzalez the Chief Operations Officer and John Howden, the Chief Executive Officer took the opportunity to share the scheme with headmasters and teachers from establishments throughout Spain.

Schools from Lanzarote, Mallorca, Cataluyna, the Basque region, Madrid, Andalucia, Galicia, Asturias and the province of Valencia itself all signed up for Cricket España visits that will consist of six sessions, and coaching that will teach the teachers.

Visitors to the stand received a free goodie bag, courtesy of Grizzly Sports and Cricket España and then had a chance to win a Criiio set in a raffle that was drawn at the end of the event. The lucky winner was Ken Henderson of IEP Castellon.

At the end of the conference that proved to be a great success Neil Brook commented that "it was a real pleasure to meet so many enthusiastic teachers and heads of schools at the Nabs Conference. Our programme to reach out to all international schools has been warmly met at the conference. I can not wait to follow up with all the contacts and create a future chance for all children in cricket".

John Howden echoed the same sentiments adding what a "refreshing experience it had been to meet so many like minded people", and Jaime Gonzalez added "the participation of Cricket España at the Nabs conference can be considered very, very positive because it has  given us the opportunity to create a network of new schools in different areas of Spain.

The schools were very interested in our cricket programme which will no doubt make hundreds and hundreds of students know, play and enjoy the game we love".

Cricket España will now get in touch with all the schools on an individual basis and organise dates to launch the programme and kick start the project into action.
